The dynamic young director and choreographer Marija Simona Šimulynaitė founded BALTIC BALLET THEATER in 2010. The troupe is young, and was formed four years ago; however, its first performance ANOTHER WORLD Based on Depeche Mode Music was already the 11th personal premiere from M.S. Šimulynaitė. Her thesis performance when graduating in Tartu (Estonia) was based on F. Durrenmatt play “The Physicists” and it was shown in Sadama Theatre. After that M.S. Šimulynaitė developed and gained experience working with such directors as A. Anuchina (Russia), M. Toming (Estonia), A. Siegert (Germany), A. Maeots (Estonia). She also brought a lot of expertise from working in Tartu’s Vanemuine Theatre. In 2009 M.S. Šimulynaitė received a nomination in the Golden Scene Cross Awards for her modern dance performance based on music from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. The performance was held in Klaipėda National Musical Theatre. The director has also presented her works in SHOCK AKADEMIJA, NOA (New Opera Action) and DRUSKOMANIA festivals in Lithuania. She works as director at Lithuanian Academy of Music Theatre studio of Opera. Thanks to her BBT is cooperating for several years with Lithuanian Russian Drama Theater creating performances together. M.S. Šimulynaitė strives to grow and develop together with Baltic Ballet Theater. She desires to impress the audience with interesting new projects and provide space and opportunity for Lithuanian and foreign dancers to dance and give expression to their ideas, as well as broaden the geographical scope of her creation.
